After spinning a whole lot this past weekend, I tried a new method of washing and setting the yarn. Before, I would have used a just a generic baby shampoo, but I had some Soak on hand so I decided to try that.
It was easier on my hands, but I worried that because of that, [...]

What goes hand in hand with knitting? Spinning!
I just “got” spinning. I mean, I’ve been spinning my own yarn for awhile now, but just last night I got it. It worked. The hands and feet and wheel all seemed to be in sync, and nice, even, consistent yarn was produced. This is a good thing. [...]

The sweater is knit in two pieces. The main piece is knit up the back and down the front. A detachable front panel is knit with buttonholes on both sides. Alternate panels could be knit to accommodate holidays, whims, or disastrous stains (or growing babies!).

The free download pattern for this month is
a favorite pullover from Nashua Handknit’s
first season, Fall 2005. Designed by Kristin
Nicholas, the embellished pullover is just the
right combination of cables and color. Knit
in Julia (of course), there are many different
color possibilities. Try swatching different
colorways - you may be surprised at which
combinations of colors work best.
