Members of the guild will be modeling their hand-knit garments and accessories. The event will also feature a raffle and door prizes.

Cost is $15 for guild members and $30 for non-members.

A portion of the proceeds wil go toward the guild’s philanthropic projects, include knitting lap robes and socks for local cancer patients at Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center; blankets, hats and mit tens for Shelter from the Storm and Coachella Valley Rescue Mission clients; helmet liners for U.S. military troops; and teddy bears for Toys for Tots.

Be there, or be… well, not there!

From Katie Bond….Knitters in Hilmarton (UK) have set themselves an unusual task – creating a house out of wool to raise money for their church. More than 30 knitting enthusiasts have already put themselves forward to take part in the project, which is part of the art, craft and music festival that takes place in the village in July.

The knitted house is set to be approximately six foot by six foot, complete with a garden fence, window boxes and a chimney.  From This Is Wiltshire!

Whether you knit gifts for everyone you know or just for yourself, surviving the winter holidays is always an accomplishment. This year, we’ve decided to reward ourselves (and you!) for with a KAL that every knitter can participate in – beginning or advanced, young or mature, male or female – Cable Mania 2010.

Widely ranging in styles and skill levels, cables are the great equalizer among knitters. Former simply by manipulating the placement of stitches, with a cable needle or dpn (or nothing!), cables can look like braids, all-over patterns, or even Celtic knots.

Over the next six weeks (through February 28, 2010), expect to receive new cabling tips and tricks, coupons for specials on cable patterns, fun contests, and even a brand-new Aran stitch dictionary.

So, go on, pull out your cable needle and cast on for a fun knit-along that can be just for you!

Anyway, Donna Druchunas of the Ethnic Knits Yahoo group is doing a Twit-along (hysterical laughter) for a pair of really pretty wrist warmers.

I’m going to join along, but mine will be longer, more like fingerless mitts. I know it’s not a true green, but I do love this colorway.

I’ve just received some new Bamboo Ewe yarn by Debbie Stoller of Stitch Nation 2010 that I will use for this.
