One of the first books I picked up when I started knitting again after college was Barbara G. Walker’s First Treasury of Knitting Patterns. This collection, which blossomed into four volumes, is full of stitch patterns from the simple to the sublime.
I would never give away my Walker set, but I do have a fun Walker-related giveaway this week. It’s a DVD called “Stitch Heaven Salutes Barbara G. Walker.”
This video collection includes 18 stitch-along patterns. There’s lots of lace and cables, if you’re into those sorts of things. The whole DVD runs three and a half hours and includes an interview with Walker (knitting didn’t come easily for her, which should give us all hope) and a piece with Laura Bryant of Prisim Yarn that offers an education in combining colors.
This DVD is fun and especially helpful for knitters who like to learn by watching but might not have a knitting instructor nearby at all hours.
Enter to win this giveaway by leaving a comment on this post before the end of the day Sunday, July 7. The winner will be picked at random. The DVD says it is regionless, so
