I told you a while back about the super cute Unofficial Harry Potter Knits magazine produced by Interweave. I was kind of in love even before I’d seen it in person, and now that I have a copy it’s even cooler.
This is a collection of more than 30 projects inspired by the world and characters of Harry Potter, but of course in no way endorsed or approved by the people who control those trademarks. It’s impeccably styled, with models who look sort of like the actors so you get, for instance, that the Owl Cardigan is inspired by Ginny because the model has long red hair.
There are updated house scarves, lovely socks, sweaters, mitts and more that would be great for winter regardless of their magical theme. I kind of can’t stop thinking about Kathleen Sperling’s Tracery Vest, a gorgeous Gothic colorwork creation worked in two colors of sock yarn, one solid and one multi for a stained glass effect. You could win some OWLs for knitting that one, for sure.
This week I want to share the fun of Harry Potter Knits so I’ve got two copies up for grabs. Winners need to live in the United States, please.
To enter to win, leave a comment on this post. How about your favorite Harry Potter character? I’m a Hermione girl, of course, because I love books and being smart (and wouldn’t mind a time turner). But there’s a soft spot for Mrs. Weasley, too, since she clearly knit love and fierce protection into all her giant sweaters.
This giveaway is open through the end of the day Sunday, Sept. 22. Two winners will be chosen at random. Good luck and thanks for visiting!
