whimsical hats

Congrats to commenters 4 and 40!

I love a fun hat on a kid, so this week I’m spreading the love of fun hats with a giveaway of not one but two copies of Whimsical Hats by Lynne Rowe.

This delightful book has 32 projects, almost all for kids but a couple for adults as well, with designs ranging from snowmen to pirates, aliens to dinosaurs, ladybugs to zebras.

They’re really cute hats that any little one on your list is sure to love.

For your chance to win, leave a comment on this post before the end of the day Sunday, Dec. 15. Since I’m on day five of being snowed in right now, why don’t you tell me what the weather is like where you are? Or anything else you want to share.

Thanks for visiting and good luck!

We have snow and ice on the ground, and we expect 1 to 2 more inches of snow today into tonight. I hope it warms up where you are and you are getting cabin fever.

  2. nicole on December 9, 2013 10:17 am

  4. Megan Milliken on December 9, 2013 10:40 am

  5. Karla Galicia on December 9, 2013 10:48 am

I live in Southern California and it finally feels like the holidays. I love it! It’s definitely cooler but nothing that compares to snow. :/

  6. shirley miller on December 9, 2013 11:26 am

Winnipeg,Manitoba,Canada is brutally cold with a lot of snow. The temp right now is -11c and -24c with windchill and was -44c before dawn. The snow and the cold keep me house bound which gives me an excuse to crochet and work on other crafts (as if I needed an excuse, but it sounded good)

  7. Beth B on December 9, 2013 11:58 am

We had snow and freezing rain yesterday and more rain today. Tomorrow we are to have 3-5 more inches of snow. I am ready for Spring!

  8. Jackie Monahan on December 9, 2013 12:02 pm

Today is definitely a day for me to take a hat from my collection out with me: the weather is sleety/rainy/snowy with lots of people on the road and everyone wanting to be where they’re going now. Stay warm, I’m not ready to be snowed in.

  9. Michelle C on December 9, 2013 12:08 pm

It has been in the 20s for over a week in Portland, Oregon. Brrrrrr.

  10. Sheila on December 9, 2013 12:21 pm

Snowy. And we almost never get snow here in the Willamette Valley so it’s totally shut everything down.

  11. Rushinred on December 9, 2013 12:32 pm

I’m trying to make a zoo’s worth of hats for my new grandson! This would be great!

  12. Kat F. on December 9, 2013 1:33 pm

I’m not sure if this giveaway is open to Australian entries but anyway it is supposed to be summer here but Tasmania is fickle. We’ve had a couple of blazing hot days but today a Whimsical hat would come in handy- it’s raining and blowing a chilly wind.

  14. Bev C on December 9, 2013 4:13 pm

Thanks for the chance to win the book. No snow here in Western Australia, it is Summer time.

    Happy days.

  15. BeckiReve on December 9, 2013 6:30 pm

We’ve been ice-bound since Thursday night and just found out they’ve canceled school for tomorrow (Tuesday!), too. Real winter weather is just not handled well by Texans. Some Whimsical Hats would help!

  16. Andi on December 9, 2013 7:24 pm

We are pretty snowy here, too! And cold – it’s -6F now! Knitting a warm hat sounds perfect right now! Thanks so much!

  25. Ann Devine on December 10, 2013 10:05 am

We had freezing rain last night, so getting to work this a.m. was SO MUCH FUN!!!! But the sun’s come out, lotsa blue sky now, still colder than that witch’s unmentionable in a brass bra. Middle Tennessee: home of the folks who get their licenses from the Cracker Jack box!

  26. Ginger Benedict on December 10, 2013 10:32 am

Cold-in the teens. Lots of snow, probably 6″, but the roads are cleared. Tons of school delays. I have to park outside, so it takes awhile to get going. Otherwise we have bright blue skies!

  27. sarah on December 10, 2013 10:58 am

A very mild December so far here in the south east of England. Very pleasant so far, hope it stays mild!

You aren’t the only one snowed in!! I was looking forward to a get-together with some friends (we were going to make some origami and quilled ornaments), but alas, it decided to dump snow on us again. So we are rescheduling it for next week. Hopefully, it will be better weather then. I wouldn’t mind snow if it stayed off the road.

We have hit freezing temps at night here in Las Vegas. Not much warmer in the day time either. But I don’t mind too much, it gives me the opportunity to wear my cozy sweaters.

  51. Andrea B on December 12, 2013 10:06 am

It is supposed to hit 34 today so hopefully we’ll get some melting. I noticed a 4-foot icicle hanging off my front porch this morning.
