Lots of knitting projects have pom-poms on them, and as knitters we often like to do other things with our yarn beyond just knitting anyway. But making pom-poms without a dedicated pom-pom maker (I’m partial to the Clover) can be difficult, especially if you want a consistent size, which you do.
Palak over at Make it Handmade has perfected the pom-pom made by hand — literally.
Follow her instructions to make an embellishment the size of your hand; just count the number of times you wrap it around to ensure you get pom-poms of the same size.
