[tag]Auntie Amanda Knits[/tag] created a very cute short-sleeved cardigan using [tag]Filatura di Crosa[/tag] [tag]Elena[/tag], a 100% mercerized Mako Egyptian Cotton yarn distributed by [tag]Tahki Stacy Charles[/tag]. The yarn is discontinued, but in doing a search at [tag]google[/tag], I did find some stores still carry Elena.
Amanda lists sub yarns such as:
Rowan Handknit Cotton (100% cotton; 92yds/50g)
Valley Yarns Goshen (48% Peruvian Cotton/46% Modal/6% Silk; 92yds/50g)
Classic Elite Four Season Cotton ( 70% cotton/30% wool; 87yds/50g)
Filatura Di Crosa Porto Cervo Yarn (100% cotton)
Amanda also states that when choosing a substitute yarn, keep in mind that the cardigan is knit at a tighter gauge than normal and you should start with a worsted weight yarn that has a labeled gauge of 4.5 sts/inch on 5mm/US#8 needles.
If you want a word copy of her pattern, drop her a line or leave a comment at her blog. Foe security purposes, and email bots I will not list it here.
