Zimmerman Exhibition
March 17, 2007 |
Last October, the University of WI Madison held an exhibit dedicated to the influence of Elizabeth Zimmerman and Schoolhouse Press on the Knitting world. Much has been written about this knitting icon and how she revolutionized the way of creating garments using the percentage system she created. This system, which emphasizes seamless construction and allows individuals to design their own garments without a pattern, has had a tremendous impact on contemporary American knitting.
The exhibit is now published on the web with wonderful pictures of the creations of Ms. Zimmerman and others that have adopted Ms. Zimmerman’s methods in their construction and design philosophy.
A review of the past exhibit can be found here.
