Last week, we featured the Frontline crochet bear and this week, we are focusing on individual essential workers. We want to show our appreciation and support for the nurses who are working tirelessly on the frontlines during these challenging times. Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system and they are the ones who are on the front lines, keeping us all safe. They are the ones who are putting their own health at risk to care for the sick and the injured. That’s why we want to honor them by featuring a roundup of Frontline nurse dolls that you can knit.
These patterns are a way to show your appreciation and support for nurses. You can knit these dolls as a gift for a nurse in your life or as a way to raise awareness about the important work that nurses do. You can also donate them to hospitals or nursing homes to brighten up the day of the nurses working there.
These patterns feature dolls dressed in traditional nurses’ uniforms, complete with scrubs and a stethoscope. They are designed to be easy to knit and suitable for knitters of all skill levels. So, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced knitter, you’ll be able to create a doll that pays tribute to the nurses who are working hard to keep us all safe.
In this roundup, you will find patterns for dolls of different sizes and styles, so you can pick the one that best suits your skills and time. These dolls are a great way to show your appreciation and support for nurses and they also make a great gift or donation. So, grab your knitting needles and let’s get started on creating these Frontline nurse dolls to honor the nurses who are working hard on the frontlines.
Specific to knitters, you can join our Knitting Patterns Only group to get, well, knitting patterns, ask questions and gain inspiration for what to knit next.
We have both free and paid patterns. You can make these nurse dolls to donate to families, charities, hospitals and nurses themselves, who may have left small children at home so they can be on the frontline. How nice would it be to gift a nurse family little mummy or daddy nurse dolls to give them comfort during this isolation and lockdown?
We really hope you like this roundup of patterns and nurse doll styles.
Little Scrub bear – This pattern is easy to knit, and suitable for beginner knitters. – if you can do simple increase and decrease stitches you should be just fine.
This free pattern for a knitted nurse is actually a DR but he sure looks like a nurse to me so I am listing him here.
These two knitted Nurse hero ladies come with capes ,they are more of a vintage style with their traditional red cape but let’s face it nurses should wear capes because they are super hero’s so we are sharing this style Nurse too.
These are very popular as they make up fast and are created in one piece. They are called Nurse Mates and are ADORABLE , Free and perfect for little fingers to grasp.

This little fellow is a cross between and Nurse and a Gnome and he is very cute indeed.
This lady is more of a vintage style but I still love the pattern and you can grab it on etsy here.
This last pattern is my favorite of all and it is for a Knitted Nurse bear pattern and she is very cute indeed, she is a paid pattern but well worth the detail and you can use the Teddy bear part of the pattern for other things too, by making different outfits such as a dress for the teddy bear.
Also don’t miss this cute frontline hero scrubs bear knitting pattern!

Delighted some of those patterns are not all nurse=female, doctor=male. Petite blonde attractive daughter is a doctor, but gets called ‘Nurse’ by patients sometimes even though she’s introduced herself as a doctor…and, vice versa, male nurses are sometimes assumed to be doctors.

I have knitted Esther Joy Nurse Dolls for North Shore Hospital nurses New Zealand, THANK YOU ESTHER, my daughter is a nurse at the clinic there and the Nurses loved them so much I was asked if they could all have one, I have knitted over 30 so far. They are so easy to knit, I was asked also how much I wanted for making them, I gladly told them they are donated for the hard work the Nurses do to keep us all safe.
