A Brilliant Idea for Any Place with a Waiting Room

September 21, 2018 by Sarah White

waiting room knitting

Parkside Medical Centre in New Zealand has implemented a unique and innovative way to keep its patients entertained while they wait for their appointments. They have provided a knitting project for visitors to work on, where they can add a few rows to a baby blanket while they wait. This not only helps to pass the time but also allows patients to create something meaningful and useful while they wait.

The waiting knitters have completed one baby blanket, which took about a month to finish, and they have started another. The project has been so popular that the medical center is getting a second set of needles so more people can knit while they wait. This will not only keep more people entertained, but it will also increase the chances of completing more blankets for charity.

The completed blankets are donated to charity, providing a warm and cozy blanket for babies in need. This is a wonderful way to give back to the community and to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

The idea of providing knitting projects in waiting rooms is a great one, and it can be implemented in different places such as hospitals, doctor’s offices, and even schools. It can be a fun and creative way to engage people, provide a sense of purpose, and make a positive impact on the community.

Is knitting in a waiting room bad manners?
Knitting in a waiting room is generally not considered bad manners, as long as the knitter is respectful of others around them. Some potential considerations to keep in mind include:

Noise level: Knitting needles clicking can be quite loud, and it may be disruptive to others who are trying to read or relax. If you’re knitting in a waiting room, try to use quieter needles or be mindful of the noise level and stop knitting if it becomes disruptive.

Space: Knitting can take up a lot of space, so be mindful of how much room you are taking up and make sure you’re not blocking walkways or impeding others from getting around.

Safety: Make sure that your knitting needles and yarn are not a tripping hazard for others and be mindful not to leave them in a place where someone might get hurt.

Respect others privacy: Some people might not be comfortable with you knitting while they are around, so be respectful of their privacy and if they ask you to stop, please do so.

Cleanliness: Make sure your yarn and needles are clean and tidy, and do not leave any yarn scraps or debris around the waiting room.

Overall, knitting in a waiting room can be a great way to pass the time, but it is important to be respectful of others around you and to take into consideration the potential impact on the environment and people around you.
