As a knitter, one of my top tips for making durable bags is to use sturdy yarns such as cotton or wool. These fibers can withstand regular use and will hold up well over time.

I also make sure to use the right needle size for the yarn I’m using. A smaller needle size will create a tighter fabric, which is more resistant to wear and tear.

Another tip I use is to felt my bags after knitting. Felting causes the fibers in the yarn to shrink and become more tightly packed, resulting in a denser and stronger fabric.

To ensure that the handles of my bags are strong and durable, I reinforce them by adding a strip of fabric or using a thicker yarn in the handle section.

I also make sure to add a lining to my bags, as it not only gives them a polished look but also adds an extra layer of protection.

When using my knitted bags, I try to avoid overstuffing them and make sure to store them in a safe and dry place to ensure their longevity.

I also experiment with different patterns and designs, to create a variety of bags suitable for different purposes and occasions.

Lastly, I reinforce the corners and bottom of my bags by adding a layer of fabric or an extra row of stitches. This helps the bag maintain its shape and keep it from stretching out over time.
