I usually only wear hats when it is really cold and I’m going to be outside for a decent period of time, but I do love the idea of wearing hats throughout the year, especially as the chill mornings of fall come into play.
Autumn Falls by Tif Neilan is a great little hat pattern for fall. It uses lace and fingering weight yarn held together to make a sport weight yarn, which makes the hat lightweight but still warm. Its slouchy style is great for casual fall days, and its sized for children (16 inch circumference) up to large adult so you can knit one for most people you know.
The pattern is available on Ravelry and her website for $6.50.
