What people like in a vacation knitting project can vary (I recently wrote about about what I like in travel knitting projects) but I think it’s common to like projects that are small enough to throw in a bag, not too difficult but still provide some kind of interest for when you’re knitting in the car or on the beach.
Beach Days by Tracie Millar looks like a fun project to knit at the beach or for the beach. It uses three colors (though of course you could use more, or fewer) and combines stripes of color with different stitch patterns, but it’s a rectangle so you don’t have to worry about remembering to increase or decrease when you’re immersed in the pattern.
It’s also worked in fingering weight yarn so it will keep you knitting through the longest road trip.
The pattern is $5 on Ravelry.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
