Barbie Doll Clothes Knitting Patterns

August 9, 2023 by Sarah White

Last week I shared some Barbie-inspired knitting patterns for humans, so it seemed only right to share some Barbie knitting patterns for actual Barbie clothes as well.

For all the knitting I’ve done I only ever made a couple of Barbie dresses; my daughter was never that into the dolls and I guess I wasn’t either as an adult. But maybe I’ll make some more now that we’re all into all things Barbie again!

If it’s summer where you are, Barbie might like some clothes for the warm weather. My Mom Knits has a nice collection of outfits that includes shorts and tops that can also be made into sweaters or pants, to make 11 different outfits for original or curvy Barbies. They all use sport or DK weight yarn You can find the collection on Etsy.

Or you can stitch up a bunch of summer dresses with this pattern collection from Etsy seller Made by Marianna. This collection of seven dresses is made for the curvy Fashionista dolls, and uses DK weight yarn.

Does your Barbie dream of being a mermaid? You can make that happen for her with this pattern for a Barbie-sized mermaid tail. Designed by Angie Hartley, this two-piece set of tail and bra is worked in fingering weight yarn and you can get the pattern on Ravelry.

If your Barbie is in the market for cool-weather clothes, I love this little sweater from Barbie Knitting on Etsy. The ribbed pattern is easy to make and it uses lace-weight yarn. Or try this cute cabled sweater for Barbie from Camilla’s Doll Boutique on Etsy. This one uses sock yarn and is knit in the round. Be careful to keep the neckline loose so it will fit over Barbie’s head.

Linmary Knits has Barbie knitting patterns for all seasons. A couple of my favorites are the fluffy jacket and the capri pants and crop top, but she has lots of great patterns to expand your doll’s handmade wardrobe.

And even though he’s just Ken, we don’t want to leave him out of our knitting escapades, so here’s a cute sweater you can knit for Ken, too. This one is by Faun Party and is a free download on Ravelry. It uses light fingering weight yarn and is super simple to make with rolled hems and a garter stitch yoke.

Knits for Barbie Doll: 75 Fabulous Fashions for Knitting” is a delightful pattern book that brings to life the popular styles of various eras, from the fashionable 1990s to the classic designs of the 1940s and 1960s.
