I’m still reading my [tag]Interweave Knits[/tag] magazine and drooling over many of the [tag]patterns[/tag] and [tag]yarns[/tag] showcased.
One new yarn that caught my eye is made from [tag]Mongolian Camels[/tag]. This is a new fiber brought to the United States by [tag]Nancy Shand/[tag]. What is unusual about this is that Nancy is an anthropologist. Nancy began her journey as fledgling yarn company owner when she ran into nine skeins of yarn inside a herders temporary home while in Mongolia with a BBC documentary filmmaker. She saw all kinds of products made with this yarn by the Mongolian women. The yarn absorbs dye beautifully, doesn’t pill, and is very warm. Shand was hooked!
[tag]Nomad Yarns[/tag] was founded two years ago and the yarn sells for $20 for 50 grams.
Find out more about the yarn, patterns available and suppliers at the website.
For now, this yarn is on my “wish list”.
