I follow knitwear designer Allyson Dykhuizen on Pinterest, and I happened to notice not too long ago that she was pinning a lot of stuff having to do with vintage baseball uniforms and logo designs. I wondered what she was up to and now I know.
Dykhuizen and Knit Picks have just released her newest collection, ?Vintage Inspired Baseball Knits?. The six patterns are available as an ebook for $9.99, a printed book for $14.99, or individual patterns can be purchased for $4.99 each.
The collection includes two cardigans, a pullover, a tank top (all for women), a blanket and an adorable baby onesie in umpire stripes.
My favorite is the Harnett Tank (pictured), worked in a sideways version of classic uniform pinstripes. It features a racerback and, in case you were wondering, is named for Ann Harnette, the first woman to join the All-American Girl’s Professional Baseball League. She also helped design the uniforms made famous in A League of Their Own. How cool is that?

It feels like it’s too early to be thinking about back to school, but as I write this my daughter has just a couple of weeks of summer left! So let’s get in that school and fall knitting spirit by looking at some apple knitting projects.
