I am not one of those knitters with a stash that’s neatly listed on Ravelry. I’d love to be, but I just don’t have the patience for it.
Also, I’d have to come face-to-face with every. single. one. of my skeins of yarn, and I’m not sure I’m ready to do that.
But I do perennially wish my knitting stuff were more organized. And I am working on it this year as I clean out my office (though right now there’s a considerable pile of knitting “stuff” hanging out, waiting for me to muster the courage to get in there).
If getting more organized is among your knitting resolutions, check out this great series on 31 days of organization from WEBS. It was published a few years ago but it’s full of great advice on evaluating UFOs and storing the ones you want to work on; destashing, identifying, using, organizing and getting rid of yarn; organizing books and patterns; using Ravelry as an organizational tool (I’ve written about that, too); storing tools; even taking pictures of finished projects.
There’s so much great stuff there to get you motivated and on track for cleaning things up and clearing things out this year.
Do you have any great yarn or knitting organization tips? We’d all love to hear them!
