Girl’s Strawberry Cardigan – Knitting Pattern

September 23, 2023 by Shellie Wilson

Design No 2570 is a popular pattern for a strawberry-themed sweater and cardigan for babies, using the Snuggly Replay yarn. The pattern features strawberry patch pockets and an all-over seed stitch that transforms a simple v-neck edge-to-edge or cute round neck sweater into a charming and adorable outfit for your little one.

Strawberry Shortcake is really popular at the moment so this cardigan is sure to be a hit.

The pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters, who have some experience with knitting and have learned the basic techniques.

The sweater and cardigan are made with a combination of 4mm (UK8 – USA6) and 3.25mm (UK10 – USA3) knitting needles. The pattern also includes an option for a crochet pocket, which requires a 4.00 (UK8 – USA F/5) crochet hook. The sweater also requires stitch holders and 3 buttons.

The design is perfect for knitters who want to add a touch of fun and sweetness to their baby’s wardrobe. The strawberry theme is sure to delight both parents and babies, and the pockets and seed stitch add a playful and unique touch to the sweater. It is also a great pattern for knitters who want to make a gift for a new parent or for a baby shower.

Strawberry Shortcake is a brand that originated in the United States in the late 1970s, created by the American Greetings Corporation. The brand was initially launched as a line of greeting cards featuring a young girl with red, strawberry-scented hair, and a green-and-white striped hat. The character was so popular that American Greetings decided to expand the brand into other products such as dolls, clothing, and other accessories.

In 1980, the first animated special “The World of Strawberry Shortcake” aired on American television, introducing the character to a wider audience and making her an instant hit with young girls. The special was followed by a series of TV specials and a television series, which ran from 1983 to 1985.

Throughout the 1980s, the Strawberry Shortcake brand continued to grow, including the introduction of other characters such as Huckleberry Pie, Blueberry Muffin, and Raspberry Tart. The brand also expanded into other merchandise, including books, puzzles, and other games.

In the 1990s, the brand saw a decline in popularity and the merchandise stopped being produced. However, the brand was revived in the 2000s with new merchandise, books, and a new animated series. Today, the brand continues to be popular among young children and is still in production, with new merchandise and products being released regularly.

Krampus Sweater Knitting Pattern

Santa and Saint Nicholas generally get all the good press, but Central European kids know you don’t want to just be good so you get presents from St. Nicholas; you also want to avoid the ire of Krampus. (He’s depicted as a human-like figure with horns and usually hairy or furry who gives birch rods instead of gifts to kids who are bad.)

If you’re the type to embrace the naughty side (or you just want to scare the children into good behavior over the holidays), maybe you’ll want to knit a Krampus sweater.

This one, from Sofie Amalie Laulund, is a top down circular yoke sweater with Krampus faces at the top and cavorting Krampuses further down the body, with some traditional Scandinavian snowflakes thrown in for fun.

Because of the large motifs there’s not a lot of room for adjusting the fit, but it is available in five sizes (the Ravelry page doesn’t say what the sizing is, and it says its worked with no ease but the photo looks like the sweater has a bit of positive ease, so if you decide to make this one just check the measurements and your own comfort level for ease when picking a size).

It also uses five colors, but there’s very little red and brown so you can probably use scrap yarn for those parts. It calls for DK weight yarn. You’ll want a background color that helps the creatures stand out. You could also work the snowflake bands in different colors if you want to mix it up.

The pattern is available in both English and Danish, and you can find it on Ravelry. This is the designer’s first pattern, which kudos to them because it’s such an ambitious (and fun!) project I’m happy to add to my collection of whimsy-filled knits.
