Giveaway: Season 7 of Knit and Crochet Now

Congratulations to Laurie!

A new season of Knit and Crochet Now! is on its way, and it’s super exciting to see how the show has changed with new host Deborah Norville. Known as the anchor of Inside Edition, she’s also an avid crocheter with her own yarn line.

As usual, a range of guests will demo projects and share tutorials with viewers. This season those guests include editor of Crochet! Magazine, Ellen Gormley; in-house designer for Annie’s Signature Collection and Annie’s knit and crochet magazines, Lena Skvagerson; authors Robyn Chachula and Kristin Nicholas; and crochet designer Rohn Strong.

The new series includes 13 episodes and began airing on public television stations through Create TV on April 5. The show airs at 6 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Produced by Annie’s, viewers will be able to enjoy over six hours of knit and crochet tips and techniques. In every episode, Deborah will introduce the viewers to new unique yarns, patterns and products. Knit and Crochet Now! designers will share their expertise in knit and crochet skills, techniques and knowledge in color. Viewers will not want to miss the popular segment “Stitch of the Week.”

  2. I wish that I was able to watch the show, but it doesn’t look like it’s carried in my area!! These DVDs would be just as nice. I’ve Crocheted for 40+ years, but there’s always a new technique coming out, that I’m anxious to try. Thank you for the wonderful contest!!

    In the past I have watched sewing and a craft show on my PBS station. Its been a long time.
    I usually catch things online..

  21. My PBS station doesn’t carry your show anymore. I did watch it a few years ago and enjoyed it. And learned so much. I would love to have the DVD so I could watch and catch up.

  44. Unfortunately I haven’t found any craft shows on tv where I now live. I used to watch Knitting Daily and Beads, Baubles and Jewels on tv in Detroit. Now I watch on the Internet when I can find them.

A Brilliant Wrap for Minis or Yarn Leftovers

I love a good stash busting project, and that’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the Brilliant Brickwork Wrap by Amy Crumpton.

It’s actually designed to use mini skeins of fingering weight yarn, but I feel like you could use scrap yarns in harmonious colors to get the same kind of effect.

The pattern was written to use 24 colors of 10 gram skeins, as well as a 100 gram/400 yard skein of yarn. But there’s a design modifications section in the pattern that talks you through using 12 colors in 20 gram increments, 10 gram scrap balls or even three full skeins of yarn if you’ve got bigger amounts of pretties you want to use.

The wrap is worked in garter stitch and it’s sort of a log cabin style, where stitches are picked up from the edges of previous sections to build the next piece. It is worked in two sections that are joined in the middle with no seaming required. The pattern includes row by row written instructions and end of row stitch counts so you can keep your place easily.

The designer rates the skill level as for adventurous beginners and beyond. You’ll need to know how to knit, slip stitches and pick up stitches from a slipped stitch edge.

I do love the look that minis give you in this project because they are designed to work well together. (Check out more patterns great for mini skeins and advent calendar yarn.) But being me I’m always thinking about ways to use your yarn stash, and I think with proper planning this would be a great project for getting rid of some of those odd balls. You could also work the wrap in a different weight of yarn for a different look depending on what yarn you have that you need to use.

As written is measures about 14 by 60 inches, or 35.5 by 152.5 cm, but you can adjust the length without too much trouble.
