The other day I mentioned that pumpkins are a great decorative item throughout the fall as long as you don’t carve them.
But there’s definitely a place in our homes — and on our knitting needles — for some Halloween-themed projects as well.
I saw these pumpkin patch socks from Jayne Winn on Ravelry the other day and fell in love. The little jack o’lanterns are so cute, and the stranded colorwork continues on the foot of the sock, making them extra warm and squishy if Halloween tends to be cold where you live.
Because of the stranded knitting it’s suggested you go up a needle size from your normal preferred sock needle size, which, along with the colorwork (just one more round!), will make the project go that much faster.
And even if you don’t finish them this year, they’ll be perfect for Halloweens to come.
The pattern is on Ravelry and runs £3.50, or about $4.73.
