Halloween Treat Bag Knitting Patterns

September 19, 2025 by Sarah White

After looking at little Halloween projects the other day and sharing one cute set of treat bags, I wanted to look for some more Halloween treat bag knitting patterns to share. These are fun to make for a classroom or a small party, or even to give as special gifts if you have a small group of trick or treaters where you live.

Wild Welsh Knitting has a set of three little treat bags including a ghost, a pumpkin and one with stripes that’s meant to be a witch. They call for DK weight yarn and the pumpkin and ghost have felt facial features, which makes them even faster to make.

This set from Tanya Oakley Designs has three different styles of bags and six faces: a mummy, pumpkin, witch, cat, skeleton and Frankenstein’s monster. She use DK weight yarn but you can use heavier yarn to make bigger bags if you like.

These cute little bag by Denny Gold include six motifs and you can put two different ones on each bag or use the same on each side. They include a pumpkin, spider, skeleton, skull, bats and a ghost worked with intarsia and/or stranded knitting. The bags are worked flat and use worsted weight yarn. You can get the pattern on Ravelry.

Candy corn is controversial as a food but it’s definitely a winner in decor. These cute bags from Handy Little Me use candy corn colors to make a flat rectangle that’s folded and seamed into a bag. There are two sizes and they call for super bulky yarn.

In a similar vein are these little treat bags from Lion Brand Yarn worked in stripes with writing stitches on after the knitting is done. The pattern for two sizes of bag is free but you can also buy a kit with the needed worsted weight yarn direct from them.

This set of Halloween goodie bags from Diana Levine Knits is made on a circular knitting machine, which makes them even quicker to make. She used a 46 stitch machine, and an I-cord maker is also handy for the handles. They call for worsted weight yarn.

Stitch Your Favorite Fruit on a Sweater

The other day I saw a post from Pinterest about trends for summer and it said one of them was “cultivating whimsy.”

Well, I don’t know where Pinterest has been all this time, but we’ve been cultivating whimsy here at Craft Gossip for a long time. I love sharing projects that are a little different, things that make you smile when you see them, and will make you smile when you knit them and wear them or use them.

Such it is with the Tutti Frutti tee knitting pattern from Bea Creative Knits.

This cute little baby tee is worked top down in the round with contiguous shoulder construction to shape the sleeve caps. There are short rows for the neckline and folded hems with picot edging at the hemline, neckline and edges of the sleeves.

All of this would be great on its own, but then there’s the addition of a super cute fruit icon, which is added with duplicate stitch. There are a lot of options, including strawberry, banana, orange, cherries, watermelon, lemon, blueberries, kiwi, peach, dragon fruit, apple and pear, so it’s likely you can add on your favorite fruit.

It is offered in eight sizes, to fit a bust measurement ranging from 28-30 inches (71-76 cm) to 56-58 inches (142-147 cm). The design is meant to be worn with around 6.3 inches/16 cm of negative ease, but you can choose the fit you prefer. There’s also optional bust and waist shaping included in the pattern if you want to make it even curvier.

This is considered an advanced beginner or intermediate project because of all the skills involved, but it’s sure to be a lot of fun even if some of these techniques are new to you.
