Judith Mackenzie is a well-known fiber artist, teacher, weaver and spinner whose studio at the Rainforest Arts Center in Forks, Wash., was destroyed in a fire on Oct. 29. She was an artist in residence there, and the fire consumed her yarn and fiber, book, looms, 14 spinning wheels and more (in addition to other structures in the area).
The fiber arts community has banded together to help rebuild her stock and get her new equipment so she can continue her passionate journey of sharing her skills with the next generation of fiber artists. You can learn more at the Rebuild Judith’s Studio website, where donations of money and equipment are being accepted.
There will also be an online auction starting next Monday to help raise more funds. Check the website for more information.
