Edie Eckman, Red Heart Yarn and CreativeBug have teamed up for a 12-week free knitalong course to make a cabled afghan, and the first lesson launched today.
It begins with a discussion of the materials needed — it calls for Red Heart Soft yarn — and how to make the bias garter stitch squares that are interspersed through the project.
Over the next 12 weeks the project will cover a variety of cables, from basic braids to honeycombs, diamonds and lattice.
It looks like a great overview of different cabling styles and would be a great learning project for anyone interested in diving in to cable knitting without starting on a huge project like a sweater.
If you check it out I’d love to hear what you think!
