For those occasions when you have a skein of yarn you don’t know what to do with, consider something simple but pretty like the Be Simple Shawl by Carolyn Glauz-Todrank.
This free pattern on Ravelry is a basic asymmetrical Garter Stitch triangle with a little picot bind off edging. It can be made in a variety of weights and sizes depending on the yarn you have available.
I think it would be best in a solid or semi-solid yarn but really any colorway would be interesting for this simple and versatile pattern.
