I was just thinking the other day that during the summer I should really carry a backpack instead of a purse. With all the things that get added to my bag this time of year — sunscreen, bottled water, a book, extra snacks for my daughter — it gets really heavy and it would be great to be able to distribute the weight a bit.
I wasn’t thinking about a knit backpack at the time, but this one from Mama in a Stitch is really cute and would be great when you have a smaller quantity of supplies to carry around.
This one starts from a base knit flat, then stitches are picked up all around to knit the body in the round for super fast work. A drawstring and a flap keep everything inside, and i-cord straps and handle give you options for carrying.
