A few years ago — probably more than a few, the way my sense of time goes — Red Heart had a yarn called Pomp-a-Doodle, which was basically a string with puffy pom-poms attached to it. When you knit with it you’d get a fabric made out of soft, poufy balls.
It was fun, but I had trouble coming up with projects to use it on, and in the meantime the yarn was discontinued.
But there’s a new version of Pomp-a-Doodle available now, and Marly Bird used it to make a really fun knit bath mat. The new version of the yarn has bigger pom-poms, for a nice, fluffy mat that would be so fun in a tween or teen’s bathroom, or really for anyone else.
Check her post for a video tutorial on working with this yarn and grab the pattern for the bath mat as well. It looks like a lot of fun!

I’ve been writing about knitting online for a long time, and a lot of things have changed. But one good thing I think has changed over the years is that fewer people see knitting as a seasonal activity. Most people don’t seem to think anymore that there’s a time when it’s too hot to knit or too hot to wear knits.
