It’s a little late for Dia de los Muertos, but I would wear this colorful candy skull cowl from Edwin John Knits any time of year.
The stranded colorwork skulls are accomplished with multicolored yarn. He used four different multis in his design to get lots of contrast between the bands of skulls, but you could also use one variegated colorway throughout for more uniformity.
This is a great way to do colorwork because the yarn does a lot of the work for you and it makes it look a lot more complex than it actually is.
The pattern is £3 on Ravelry (about $4 at this writing).
