My daughter is five and recently had her first dance recital. All the girls wore their hair in a bun, which is pretty standard. She has a lot of hair, and it was quite a mess, and didn’t look as good as the others.
I probably should have thought to use a donut, a squishy fabric loop that helps hold the hair in place. But I was never in dance, so it didn’t occur to me.
The mom behind The Eli Monster did think of such a thing, but she didn’t want to have to spend money on it, so she took an odd ball and an evening to knit up her own “dancing dounut.”
It’s such a great idea for little girls’ hair and for women who like to wear buns.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
