I love Brick Stitch, which is a really pretty — and pretty simple — slip stitch colorwork pattern that makes a knit fabric that looks more complex than it is. Slip stitch knitting is a great beginner colorwork technique, and it’s a lot of fun to do.
The French Inspired Cowl from the Feminine Touch Designs uses Brick Stitch to make a striking and cozy cowl that looks dramatic without a lot of effort. This would be a great one to knit for the teens on your gift knitting list, or for a newer knitter to get a taste of what colorwork beyond stripes looks like.
Have you ever worked with Brick Stitch or other slip stitch colorwork designs? I’d love to know what you think of them.
