I love the look of traditional knit Christmas stockings with little holiday motifs on them. They’re the sorts of stockings we have in my family (my grandmother and mom made them) and I just love the classic look.
Arne & Carlos have a great Nisse Christmas stocking pattern you can work up in DK weight yarn (or worsted if you want to make a bigger one, though it’s already a good size). It uses traditional Nordic motifs with a solid color cuff, short-row heel and toe and is worked from the top down.
They even have a tutorial video that covers the basics of knitting in the round with multiple colors if you need help with that.
You can get the pattern on their website for $8.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
