A summer poncho or beach coverup is a really easy project because it’s usually just two big rectangles sewn flat and then seamed at the sides, leaving holes for the arms and another for the head.
You can take that simple design in a thousand different directions, depending on the yarn and the stitch pattern used.
This beach poncho knitting pattern from Handy Little Me uses Bamboo Stitch, which is a fun variation on Stockinette that uses yarn overs that are passed over worked stitches to make texture.
Once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty fast, and the addition of big yarn and size 15 US knitting needles means you’ll have this project done in plenty of time to wear it to the beach this summer.
