Dan Lee has done a lot of patterns using skull motifs, and his latest is a great one if you want to use the motif without doing allover stranded knitting.
The “S” is for Skull pattern is a simple striped beanie with twisted rib at the base, and the skull is added on using duplicate stitch after the hat is knit.
This is an easy introduction to duplicate stitch if you’ve never done it before and is sure to inspire you to start adding embellishments to all sorts of projects. And it’s a great use for some odd balls because this one little project uses four different colors (and of course you could use more colors for the stripes in the hat if you like).
Grab the pattern on Ravelry for £2.50, or about $3.39 as I write this.

I mentioned the other day that there are, or at least it feels like there are, a lot more options for knitting garments to wear in the summer, and I want to share as many of them as I can, but it’s sometimes hard to classify them in a way that makes sense. Thus the collection of knit summer tops with fun necklines. Enjoy.
