I am always looking for ways to use up bits of my stash (and am in fact knitting a stash-busting sweater right now), but even if you’re not a fan of the scrappy look the Exotic Burst Cowl by Dolly Laishram is something you might want to take a look at.
While she made a version with lots of leftover yarns, you can also knit it with just a couple of colors (or a solid and a color-changing yarn) and still get a beautiful effect.
The little shells are knit flat and assembled into the cowl in a patchwork. There’s a photo tutorial in the pattern so you’ll be sure to know what to do.
The cowl measures 50 centimeters around (that’s about 20 inches) and is 27 cm/10.5 inches deep. But you can always make it bigger if you like and have more stash.
You can get the pattern on Ravelry for $4.80.
