It all started with a pin. I don’t even know where the original pin came from for sure (though I found the image at Mommy Despot) and I know I have pinned somewhere but I can’t even find the pin.
Anyway, this image has been floating around Pinterest of a table set with all the utensils tucked into little cable knit stockings.
It’s adorable, and more than once I’ve seen people on Pinterest asking for the pattern, or people have asked me for a pattern.
The original ones were store-bought, the horror, but we can do better because I just whipped up a few variations on the knit utensil stocking that I’ve shared over at CraftBits.
You’ll find two cabled versions (same pattern, but the cable twists different ways if you want to change it up) and a striped stockinette version, which you could also do solid and decorate with embroidery, or add a little colorwork motif to, or whatever else you wanted to do.
They’re pretty fast projects, so you have plenty of time to knit up a bunch for your holiday table.
Do you know the pin I’m talking about? Do you have it pinned somewhere too? Is this a project you would make? I’d love to hear about it!
