I have sewn my own napkins before (and we’ve been using cloth napkins pretty exclusively for about eight years now) but for some reason I had never thought to knit them.
Nemcsok Farms has a super simple pattern for quick knitting, thick and durable knit napkins, worked in Garter Stitch with three strands of yarn held together.
She used three strands all from the same ball, but this would also be a fun way to use up your cotton yarn scraps and make a bunch of napkins that all look a little different.
She says it takes about 20 minutes to make a single napkin, so over the course of a couple of weeks’ knitting in the evenings you could have a nice stack of napkins to use yourself or to give as a gift.
Have you ever knit napkins?
