Cable knit scarves are so fun to make, and I feel like they are warmer than other types of scarves because the twists capture the cold air before it can get to you. That’s probably not a real thing, but I’m going with it anyway.
This easy cable knit scarf pattern from A Box of Twine is a great one to try even if you’ve never knit cables before. Because it’s worked with super bulky yarn and big, size 13 US knitting needles (that’s 9 mm for the rest of you), it will knit up in no time and the cable has a fun graphic element. The tweed yarn the designer chose is a lot of fun with a cable pattern, too, but you can also use a solid color if you prefer.
Also those tassels are totally optional but also adorable.
The pattern is an easy repeat of 10 rows, and three rows of each repeat contain twists. That gives you lots of practice if you’ve never worked with cables before, and if you have, it’s a quick project that’s perfect for gift knitting to keep a loved one warm. Or make it for yourself or as a project for charity (I would leave off the tassels in that case for ease of care).
