Garter Stitch is often overlooked as a pattern stitch for knitters who know basically any other knit stitches, but I love it for its simplicity and texture.
And when you knit Garter Stitch with small yarn on big needles, it makes a cool airy fabric that doesn’t look at all like what you imagine when you think of Garter Stitch.
The Light and Airy Linen Wrap from Classic Elite Yarns is worked in this way. There are options for a scarf length and a shawl, but whichever way you go it’s a great little project for summer and the seasonal transition that’s soon to come.
And this technique is a fun one to try with different yarns to see what happens when you dramatically change up the needle size.
