More Knitting Patterns to Knit for Ukraine

We have been gathering resources for people who want to support Ukraine with knitting, from sales where proceeds will go to charitable organizations to ways to support Ukrainian makers.

I also shared a Ukrainian flag heart knitting pattern, but I wanted to gather some more knit for Ukraine knitting patterns in case you need them.

Ukrainian Etsy sellers are also listing digital items for donations.

These would be great to knit to sell and donate the cost to a worthy organization, or to give to Ukrainians in your area to show your support. Unless noted otherwise these patterns are on Ravelry. I will keep adding to the list as I find more; if you know of some I haven’t mentioned let me know!

• Free Ukraine Dishcloth by Michelle Bernard is a two-color, rectangular washcloth with the words “free Ukraine”
• Ukraine Flag Pin by Jen Mitchell uses fingering weight yarn to re-create the blue and yellow flag
• Self Determination is a cowl design highlighting the flag and coat of arms of Ukraine that was designed by Molly Conroy
• This knit for Ukraine mitten chart uses snowflake patterns in blue and yellow (the pattern, by Justyna Bernhardsson, is in Swedish but a chart is a chart)
• Or knit colorwork mitts like Sunflower Seeds by Lanja Khon-Engheim (this one is in English and Norwegian)
• The Stop War socks pattern, unfortunately, will probably be handy beyond the current crisis; it’s designed by Daniela Mühlbauer in four sizes (there’s also a Stand with Ukraine version)
• Knitting Lotta has a Knit for Ukraine mitten design with doves on the backs of the hands (in English and Swedish).
• Talya in Love knit a twisted headband in blue and yellow in Garter Stitch
• Mary Lucas has a flag and sunflower pin pattern she’s selling to raise fund for the Red Cross
• Samuele Scomparin offers a knit bow tie in Ukrainian colors the proceeds of sales of which go to UNICEF

There are several other ways to use your knitting skills to support Ukraine besides the patterns above, and here are a few examples:

Charitable Knitting Patterns: You can find knitting patterns online where proceeds from sales will go to organizations that support Ukraine. For example, you can look for patterns that benefit organizations such as the Ukrainian Red Cross or UNICEF.

Ukrainian Folk-Inspired Patterns: There are many traditional Ukrainian knitting patterns that you can use to create items that showcase Ukrainian culture and heritage. You can find patterns for traditional Ukrainian shawls, scarves, and socks, as well as other items that are inspired by Ukrainian folk art.

Support Ukrainian Yarn Producers: You can also support Ukraine by purchasing yarn from Ukrainian producers. Many Ukrainian yarn companies have online shops where you can purchase yarn directly.

Knit for Ukrainian refugees: Knitting for refugees is a great way to show your support for people affected by the conflict in Ukraine, you can knit warm clothing such as scarfs, hats and mittens and donate them to organizations that work with refugees.

Knit for Ukrainian children: You can also knit for Ukrainian children by donating your finished items to organizations that work with children in Ukraine, such as UNICEF or Save the Children.

Raising Awareness: You can also use your knitting skills to raise awareness about the situation in Ukraine. For example, you could knit a Ukrainian flag and display it in a public place, or create a window display in your home to raise awareness about the situation in Ukraine.
