Lest you think we’d forget our cousins to the north (here in America, anyway), I thought it would be good to collect some fun knitting patterns to celebrate Canada Day. Or hockey season. Or any other time you love Canada.
This time of year you might not need a Canada hat like the O Canada Toque from Candise Wilde, or Sandy Prossner’s Mount Canada. It might not be the time to cast on a pair of knit mittens like the O Canada Mittens (I guess that name is kind of irresistible) from Vicky Taylor-Hood.
But you do have cans that need cozies, right? The Canada Day knit placemat and cozy from KnitCA is a great choice, or try the Oh Canada Coffee Sweater (really, but I promise it’s the last one) from Sue Sedlak for beverages that are supposed to be warm.
How about a washcloth? Try the Garden Maple Leaf Dishcloth by Melissa Bergland Burham (available on the web archive). The Red Maple Leaf Pattern from Knit Hit would also make a cute little cloth. And the Illusion Maple Leaf Dishcloth by Audrey Knits is a fun knitting trick.
Or knit a little Canadian flag with help from the felted flag patch pattern at My Knitting Basket or the mini Canadian flag garland from Kristen Cooper. So cute!
