Since I have socks on the brain (and on the needles) lately, I thought I would share this post from Cookie A I came across on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago about repairing socks.
The main downside to knitting socks is that they will, eventually, wear out. Walking around puts a lot of strain on the stitches, especially when socks are in shoes. But usually we aren’t willing to just throw away something we spent hours and hours knitting, so it’s worth knowing how to fix socks so we can wear them again.
Cookie shows a simple method whereby she picks up stitches and knits a patch to cover the hole. This works really well for holes on the bottom of feet.
Have you ever repaired a handknit sock? I’d love to hear how you did it!
