I’ve done a lot of roundups of Fourth of July knitting patterns and things to make for other patriotic holidays through the years (here are a few), but I think I’ve found some new projects that I haven’t shared before. These patterns are great to knit and wear/use on Flag Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day or any other time you want to wear a bit of red, white and blue.
Kristin Ornolfsdottir’s American Flag ornament is a great decoration for your summer parties or to add to a holiday tree. The flag can be knit as a rectangle, circle or heart. The pattern is available on Ravelry.
This cute flag vase from Frugal Knitting Haus is a great little project to use as decor on your holiday table (think candle holder, vase or a place to put utensils and napkins. You can find it on LoveCrafts.
Make a cute stars and stripes infinity scarf with this pattern from The Knitting Niche on Etsy. It uses chunky yarn. Or make a scarf with this pattern from Berta Karapetyan via Ravelry.
The Protest is Patriotic Shawl from craftivist.net is a pretty flag-inspired shawl that reminds us being patriotic doesn’t mean supporting everything the government does. You can get the pattern on Ravelry. Or try the American Flag Shawl, also on Ravelry, from Yarn Works Ltd/ Cheryl Miller, which uses DK weight yarn at an open gauge to make a cool mostly striped shawl.
Carolynne Kollar has a cute kids’ cardigan with a flag feel. It’s sized from 6 to 18 months and worked in bulky yarn. You can find it on Ravelry.
If you want to go full-on summer, the American Flag Crop Top from Angela Gutierrez is the way to go. This classic crop top with a red, white and blue twist is worked flat in worsted weight yarn and is available in three sizes from Ravelry. You can also make an American-inspired top with more coverage with this tank top pattern from Guzel Eaves via LoveCrafts. It uses DK weight yarn and is available in 7 sizes.
Or make a full-on flag afghan using super bulky yarn for extra warmth. This pattern is available on Ravelry and was designed by Janet Petifish.
