Baby blankets are a fun way to try out stitch patterns and techniques on a relatively small scale. If you’ve never done cables before, a baby blanket with a cabled stitch pattern is a great way to learn and get a lot of practice so you’ll be comfortable with a more complex cable pattern in the future if you want to.
The Waterfall Baby Blanket from Leelee Knits uses a really easy allover cable pattern and a lightly colored yarn (it’s a great cotton yarn and acrylic blend, super durable and washable for babies) that doesn’t detract from the pattern.
Even better, it’s worked on size 9 US needles, which means even with the slower knitting that comes from working cables, you can whip this up for the newest baby in your life in no time.
Specific to knitters, you can join our Knitting Patterns Only group to get, well, knitting patterns, ask questions and gain inspiration for what to knit next.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
