One of the worst things about winter for me is that when my feet get cold, it’s really hard to warm them back up. That’s why I try to wear handknit socks all the time, because they’re way warmer than the store-bought ones I have, but even I sometimes forget. Or have to do laundry.
So this year I’ve been thinking hard about knitting some slippers.
Gina Michelle’s Snow Day Slippers are really cute and easy. They’re knit flat from the cuff to the toe in bulky yarn and can be knit in a long afternoon stuck in the house.
The Seamless Salomas Slippers by Susan Busbee and Megan Williams are an updated version of the classic little slipper a lot of us probably made as new knitters, which makes them better for summer than winter, probably, but I’ll bet you could knit them in wool, too.
Have you ever knit slippers? I’d love to hear about it!

I have a couple of vintage patterns for slippers but haven’t knitted any yet. Still wear the Christmas-y ones my [Grand]Mama crocheted for me ages ago. They aren’t comfortable to walk on but really warm.

I’m hoping the next couple of weeks are the last gasp of winter here, but I’m making slippers anyway. The Salomas slippers look like fun to knit!
