I’m back from my skiing trip, and totally rejunvenated! We went skiing in the Rockies, as well as hiking and snow shoeing. Yes, I’m a bit sore, but that’s ok, it was a FABULOUS vacation. All of my brothers were there, and we just had a blast!
If you’ve been reading this for awhile, you know I learned, within the last year, to spin. An old antique, broken down, dilapidated wheel found it’s way into my home and heart, and with some TLC and about 200 bucks in repairs, it’s good to go.
I’ve been making yarn, and lots of it! And, I’ve been knitting with the yarn I’ve made. It feels like a deeper connection, to knit with yarn I’ve made.
When I was first learning, I searched all over the net for tips, techniques, trade secrets…. and the most helpful answers I got, no surprise, were from real people at the local fiber event.
When I searched YouTube for “how to spin” I found “how to spin a pencil”, “how to spin a ukelele”, even “how to teach your rat to spin”, but with some drilling down, I found this: Spinning on a Supported Spindle. As with all of the YouTube episodes, on the same page are related videos, all under 10.5 minutes, be sure to explore them all.
