Last summer I started knitting a boxy sweater for myself out of bamboo yarn that I imagine will be a great summer sweater if I ever finish it. I imagine slipping it on during beach vacations for walks down by the water when it’s a little too breezy to just be in summer clothes.
I think this is the year I’ll finish it, but if I’d been smarter I could have had a summer sweater in a jiffy with a project like the Sea Breeze Sweater from All About Ami.
Using a giant tape yarn from Lion Brand Yarn, she stitched up a super-bulky, striped sweater in no time at all.
This would be a great first sweater pattern because there is no shaping on the body at all and not much in the sleeves, either. It’s a great pattern for knitters with more experience, too, who just want to knit up a sweater in a flash.
Four sizes of the sweater are available, but you could easily adjust the pattern to make it whatever size you need (again: just rectangles).
Have you ever knit a summer sweater? I’d love to hear about it. Maybe you’ll inspire me to finish mine!
