Though I’m more of a glove person myself, I know that mittens are actually better for keeping your hands warm, and they’re a lot more approachable for knitters of all skill levels who might think all those fingers are just too fiddly (I felt the same way until I actually knit some).
Gina Michele has a fun pattern for Garter Stitch mittens knit flat. They’re actually a really clever design that looks like it might not work, but when you fold and sew them up just so they make cute and cozy mittens in no time.
