It’s finally feeling like winter where I live (we even got a little snow a few days ago!) so I’m feeling the need to knit all the winter accessories. The other day I made a hat and I think I might follow that up with some mittens.
The Erna Mittens from Simone Ryan feature Broken Rib stitch, which makes these pretty columns of textured stitches on the mitts. They’re worked from the bottom up with two strands of light-fingering weight yarn held together to make a DK weight. You could also use DK, or use yarn that’s heavier to make mittens that are a little bigger if you like (the pattern comes in one size).
There’s also a matching hat pattern if you’re into that. You can find them both on Ravelry.
