Since we’ve been talking a bit about brioche this week I thought it was appropriate to share this pattern from Classic Elite Yarns for a fisherman’s rib scarf.
Fisherman’s Rib is a stitch that is a lot like brioche but it’s formed in a different way. Instead of using yarn overs and decreases to make the cushiony fabric, fisherman’s rib is worked by knitting into the row below the row you’re working on, which makes the fabric more brioche-like.
It’s a great starter pattern if you’ve never worked brioche before, because I think it’s a little easier and you still get a really nice, squishy fabric from it.
Have you ever worked with fisherman’s rib? I’d love to hear about it.

I’ve knit several scarves with this stitch as the last few winters here in springfield, Missouri have been extremely cold! The stitch makes them very thick and warm!
