Change up your headband knitting routine with this fun lacy headband knitting pattern. I tend to knit headbands in stockinette or garter stitch pretty much exclusively, but sometimes it’s fun to throw in a different stitch pattern every now and then.
This twisted lace headband is a quick knitting project that will keep your ears warm on cold days. It also makes a wonderful last-minute gift to a friend or family member.
The pattern includes garter stitch edging, little cables and a relatively easy lace pattern. In fact, the whole pattern is just two rows that repeat to the length you need.
You will need to be comfortable with reading your knitting to complete this project, since wrong side rows are made by knitting the stitches as you see them. This isn’t really that hard to do, just know that knits look like vs on the right side and bumps on the wrong side (or back) of the work. Purls are the opposite, a bump on the front and smooth on the back.
You’re knitting what you see, so it’s the opposite of the previous row. You’ll see a purl where you knit the stitch on the last row, so you’ll purl it on the second row. And vice versa. Once you’ve done it a couple of times you’ll probably have it memorized.
The pattern uses worsted weight yarn and you probably won’t even use a whole skein for this project. Once you get going it should knit up pretty fast, too, which makes it great for a last-minute gift or something to make for yourself to wear when looking at the holiday lights.
You can get this pattern for free from Mirella Moments. She also has a coordinating cowl pattern, so you can knit both if you like to be coordinated.
