Knit hats are great, and knitting hats is a lot of fun, but I’ll admit I don’t actually wear my knit hats very often.
What I like more is knit earwarmers, where the important part is covered but you can still wear a bun or a ponytail and not have it get in the way of your warmth.
The Everyday Earwarmer by Angela Dykman is basically a ponytail hat. It’s a very wide earwarmer that looks like it might have shaping but is actually worked with different sized knitting needles to make it shape to the head a little better.
The designer says you can knit one up in one to one and a half hours, and that seems like a really good idea.
